Out and About in Porto
My trip to Portugal originally had a work purpose as my goal this year is to master my craft and create outstanding events …but the charm of Porto drew me in, leading me to extend my stay for over a week. Staying at the luxurious 5-star hotel, Torel Avantgarde, with meticulous attention to detail and a delightful breakfast overlooking the city, was a highlight. Each room is dedicated to an artist, and I had the pleasure of staying in the Man Ray room. On my last day, I made sure to enjoy the sauna and spa facilities.
The city captivated me with its culinary delights, including the irresistible pastel de nata, street music, Portuguese tiles, Catholic church architecture, elegant curtain drapes in restaurant entrances, vibrant coffee shops, and a one of a kind boutique called Panama Porto.
Anyway here are my highlights…
Indulge in authentic Portuguese cuisine at a restaurant where the long queue serves as a testament to its quality.Food at Taberna dos Mercadores is honest, reasonably priced and authentically Portuguese: ‘Um lugar carregado de carácter, um lugar que se sente familiar desde o primeiro encontro.’
Explore the eclectic boutique, Panamar , which offers a diverse range of homeware, clothing, and shoes created by talented local fashion designers in Portugal. I was so impressed by the pieces that I postponed my flight. The colors, textures, and patterns of the ladies collection celebrate feminine aesthetics and are sure to brighten any winter complexion. I am excited to announce that I am collaborating with the fashion designer on a bespoke piece for a client. I am truly madly deeply in love with Portugal and my new chapter of excellence.
I have numerous unfinished business opportunities in Porto, which makes me almost certain that I will return soon. Do you think this location could be a contender for your destination wedding shortlist? Stay tuned for a detailed interview with the owner of Panamar Porto.
